    Intro to Traditional Chinese Medicine

    Yin – Yang – Qi – Jing – Meridians – Elements

What is it and why does it matter?

How can I use this information to create more balance in my life?

Traditional chinese medecine offers a holistic view of the human body. A system where physical and mental state are closely connected, where our health and well-being is influenced by our environment and life-style.

In TCM we investigate the root causes of an imbalance rather than trying to treat symptoms.

This course is an introduction to the key concepts around TCM:

    – Yin/Yang: theory, balance, imbalance, food
    – Qi, Jing, Blood,
    – 5 Elements
    – Hands on approach: observation, acupressure and simple treatments, yoga and TCM

All levels welcome – this course is intended for people who have no knowledge about Traditional Chinese Medecine and are curious to learn more about key theoretical concepts

The "wild child" of Yoga - What is Jivamukti Yoga? with Janna

This workshop is designed for everybody who wants to get to know Jivamukti Yoga. It doesn’t matter if you are already practicing in another tradition for a while, if you are completely new to yoga or if you want to delve deeper into the knowledge of the Jivamukti method.

Designed by Sharon Gannon and David Life in the 1980ies in NYC, Jivamukti Yoga is today a worldwide renowned yoga method with centers in more than 20 countries. Jivamukti Yoga means „liberation while living” and is defined as a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings. The Jivamukti Method grounds in the original meaning of the Sanskrit word asana as seat, connection” – relationship to the Earth – and thus emphasizes spiritual activism, animals rights and environmentalism. Jivamukti yoga is a physically demanding practice with a base in vinyasa, hatha and ashtanga yoga. Uplifting music as well as teacher’s assists always enriches the classes. That is why Jivamukti Yoga is also known as the „wild child of yoga“.

In this workshop we will in many practical and theoretical exercises learn the basic principles of Jivamukti Yoga and study the 5 tenets of the tradition: ahimsa (non-violence), bhakti (devotion), dhyana (meditation), nada (sound) and shastra (study of the scriptures). We will also look at the parts of typical Open and Basic classes, learn a Sun Salutation exploring the principles of vinyasa krama (ordered sequence) and open up the space for all your questions.

    Open to all levels.

Back Into the Future – Open Your Heart with Backbends

Our culture is marked by our fear, mistrust and insecurity. If we want to start seeing others with compassion and joy, we sometimes have to dare to move into unknown territory – the space of our heart.

The practice of backbends lets us access directly our heart chakra (anahata) and thus our karmic relationships to those who have hurt us. To explore the own heart space reminds us of all these relationships and may release a whirl of emotions. By overcoming fear, anger and hesitation we release the potential to let go of challenges in the past. We learn to develop joy, confidence, power and compassion. With the right intentions, backbends allow us to glow for everything that awaits us in the future.

In this workshop we will break down the anatomical and spiritual foundations of backbends and will explore our heart space in theoretical, practical and partner exercises. What does it mean to lean back and why is it so important in our yoga practice? The workshop is designed for all students with a bit of yoga experience and for advanced students who want to deepen their practice.
