Back Into the Future – Open Your Heart with Backbends
Our culture is marked by our fear, mistrust and insecurity. If we want to start seeing others with compassion and joy, we sometimes have to dare to move into unknown territory – the space of our heart.
The practice of backbends lets us access directly our heart chakra (anahata) and thus our karmic relationships to those who have hurt us. To explore the own heart space reminds us of all these relationships and may release a whirl of emotions. By overcoming fear, anger and hesitation we release the potential to let go of challenges in the past. We learn to develop joy, confidence, power and compassion. With the right intentions, backbends allow us to glow for everything that awaits us in the future.
In this workshop we will break down the anatomical and spiritual foundations of backbends and will explore our heart space in theoretical, practical and partner exercises. What does it mean to lean back and why is it so important in our yoga practice? The workshop is designed for all students with a bit of yoga experience and for advanced students who want to deepen their practice.

The practice of yoga is a powerful tool to create personal empowerment and support from sister communities. The workshops shall create a safe space for everybody and will work with asana, pranayama, music, meditation, visualizations, as well as partner exercises. The workshop series are taught as a holistic sequence, however each workshop may be booked separately.
Session I: Yoga & Feminism, October 12, 1.30-3.30pm
What has yoga to do with feminism? Do we still need today feminist thinking or don’t we have equal rights already? In this workshop we want to explore the philosophical foundations and physical practices of yoga through feminist lenses. Although yoga has been for many centuries a male-only domain, the yoga practices give women a powerful tool to explore their womanhood. In this workshop we will focus on our female bodies, working on acceptance and self-esteem and devotion. Furthermore, we will use current feminist theory on queerness to overcome dualities between the sexes as well as between people. Yoga means union with all beings and for all beings, freedom and liberation for all.
Session II: Yoga & Female Menstruation, October 26, 1.30-3.30pm
The female body is heavily influenced by the cycle of our menstruation. Very often, we are not able to perceive this, since we have to “function“ the same way all the time. However, our body and our emotional state are strongly affected by the different phases of our menstruation cycle: Before our ovulaton we are usually full of strength and drive, after it we are more inward-minded and tend to prefer retreat and reflection. The last phase, the menstruation itself, is then the time to let go and overcome in order to create space for new things. How can we start to pay attention to our cyclic nature and use them for us spiritually? Which practices of yoga support us in feeling fine with ourselves in all phases of our cycle? What helps us to overcome pain during the period and should I practice handstand? In this workshop we will practice and explore together the power oft he female cycle, so we can better understand it and live with it accordingly.

Prix: 40 EUR

About Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga
Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga was created by Baron Baptiste. It is a vinyasa practice done in a lightly heated room. Much of the physical aspects of the Baptiste Yoga™ style are inspired by the Hatha Yoga teachings of Krishnamacharya and his students Iyengar and Desikachar, whom Baron Baptiste studied with personally from a young age.
About Tryphena Chia
Tryphena currently teaches at Pure Yoga in Hong Kong. She has spent the last ten years studying with Baron Baptiste and assisting him in trainings all over the world. She is passionate about sharing this practice because the practice always leaves people feeling empowered and is accessible to anyone.
« Do your practice and all is coming » – Sri K. Pattabhi Jois
Prix: 50 EUR / session, 80 EUR / weekend
